Reading our letters
It was interesting to read out letters sent from Year 3 students last year. They gave us some tips to help us in the Weka Team and also told us of some of the awesome things we will be doing, like Weka Day Camp. We will be writing similar letters at the end of term 4, to give to new year 3 students in 2020.

Harvesting our vegetables
Room 18 helps to look after the vegetables growing in the school's veggie garden by the Batey Block. We usually do the weeding every Thursday afternoon, after the Weka Litter Patrol. Finally, the broccoli, spring onions and cauliflowers were ready to pick.

Having sung the song, it was time to get into the cooking! First we grated the cheese.

Then we made a cheese sauce. We cut up the broccoli and cauliflower and boiled the vegetables for five minutes, before adding them to the sauce.

There was enough for everyone to have a tasting, some people even had seconds and thirds!
Rock Bottom Potato People
We read the book, 'Potato People' and then decided to make our own.

Playdough
Different people like to do different things before school - some people decided to make the white playdough . . . red and blue . . . and after a few days purple as well.

Hayden, Luke and Charlize start out with white playdough.

Casear used it to help him learn the alphabet sound - M for Minecraft. We will also use playdough in spelling and in Maths to help us make fractions of shapes and sets of numbers. Watch this space!
